Four Guys Who Just Love Playing Great Music...
Gary Hatch
While in high school in the early 70’s, when bass guitars were king, Kerrville native Gary Hatch was loaned a dusty old WW II vintage doghouse bass. While his friends were rocking out to the top hits of the day, he was developing his chops with popular area jazz and swing artists to the sounds of New Orleans Dixieland and Big Band. He left for Texas A&M well prepared to make the switch to bluegrass, country, gospel and pop…. playing and singing with friends for extra spending money. Today, his love for all musical styles and a knack for singing vocal harmony against a simultaneous bass thump allows him to enjoy performing with many groups and genres. His standup bass can be heard on several Texas artist CD’s. He is an architect, married for 28 years and enjoys songwriting and remodeling his 86 year old hillside home.
Bryon Foster
A self-taught musician, Bryon grew up singing “a cappella’ in the Church of Christ. His father was a pianist and his mother played the accordion. Bryon showed a natural affinity for music at a young age, so his father bought him a drum set at age 7. He was greatly influenced by the music of The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. In 1976, Bryon Foster started playing the drums in his first band, “Absolute Zero.” He honed his skills by engaging in every performance opportunity he could get his hands on. Eventually, Bryon gave his talents to a higher cause, and started playing the drums at his Church. He has studied guitar and music theory with Kerrville’s own Kevin McCormick and percussion with Tom Van Schaik (drummer for Robert Earl Keen).
Tim Porter
Tim started playing guitar in rural Alabama at age 5, and moved to Texas at age 10. while studying theory and performance, he worked in his father’s guitar studio and studied with his father and other vocal and guitar coaches. He taught guitar classes at Abilene Christian University while a student there, and has been a member of various touring and performing bands, and also plays solo guitar. He has been a guest soloist with the Symphony of the Hills, and enjoys playing classic rock, country, classical, and jazz music. He has recorded in Nashville, San Antonio, and Kerrville, Texas, and currently teaches guitar at Schreiner University, privately and at Hill Country Acoustic Music Seminars.
